One short email a week from Noël Tarquinii. What actually happens before the big decisions get announced, and the move that changes how it ends.

What's inside

Every issue gives you something you can use that week.

No pep talks. No "know your worth." Every issue has a real situation, what usually happens next, and what to do about it.

The play

A real move, start to finish.

What someone in power did, and what it cost or paid them. Details changed, nobody named.

The tell

What to watch for.

The signal that shows up weeks before anybody says it out loud.

Your move

One question before you decide.

The thing to ask, or ask yourself, before you make a call you can't take back.

First look

The Record, before anyone else.

My playbook drops this fall. Subscribers hear about it first.

A taste

Here's how it reads.

I watched a senior leader get promoted. Everybody acted surprised. I wasn't.

For months they'd been pulled into every leadership meeting. When the boss was out, they were the go-to.

That's the tell. By the time a promotion is announced, it's already been decided. If you want the next seat, the question isn't "how do I do better work." It's "am I in the room when they talk about it?"

Your move this week: count the meetings you got pulled into last month that weren't on your calendar a year ago. That number tells you more than your review.

Who reads it

People with something on the line.

If you make calls that cost real money, move real people or put your name on the line, this is for you.

Work and life both. Power doesn't stop at the office door.

The CEO deciding who gets the number two seat.
The founder who knows someone loyal has been outgrown.
The executive weighing an offer that looks almost too good.
The owner about to sign with a partner, a buyer or a board.
The professional who can feel the room shifting and can't prove it yet.

Read it every Tuesday. Call me when it's your move.
